First Look: La Tradicion Perdomo Reserve

Following the highly successful introduction of La Tradicion Perdomo Reserve® Cameroon series at RTDA 2003, third-generation Cuban cigar maker Nick Perdomo, Jr. announced today that Tabacalera Perdomo, S.A. will expand the popular line which promises to offer consumers a uniquely new smoking experience. The award-winning brand is handcrafted with new frontmarks and is offers two new wrapper variations: a silky sun-grown Cuban Café or an elegant, ebony-hued Maduro leaf. Produced in the round, both new La Tradicion Perdomo Reserve® line extensions will be comprised of a entirely new strain of deeply aged all-Cuban seed Nicaraguan tobaccos.

The evolving tastes of consumers seeking deeper and more complex flavors led to the genesis of the new La Tradicion Perdomo Reserve® line, stated Perdomo. My father and I have been curing the new strain of Cuban-seed wrapper crop for the past 24 months and its the perfect compliment to our well aged Cuban-seed fillers and binders we already use for our Perdomo Reserve line.

The contemporary La Tradicion Perdomo Reserve® features a distinguished and contemplative blend of medium bodied, double-aged Cuban-seed tobaccos grown in the resinous dark soil of the Perdomo family plantation in Esteli, Nicaragua. Produced in three distinctly separate editions, the Perdomo Reserve White Label is graced with a Cuban Café Sun-Grown wrapper that imparts a perfect balance of complex tastes that include coffee, almonds and cedar with a smooth, clean finish. The Perdomo Reserve Red Label offers a triple fermented Maduro leaf that yields a more subtle taste with notes of semi-sweet cocoa and coffee with a long, satisfying finish. The Perdomo Reserve Silver Label, previously introduced at RTDA 2003 in August, features a subtle, sweet Number 1 Grade African Cameroon wrapper.

La Tradicion Perdomo Reserve® has also been updated with a presentation of nine distinctive vitolas: the F (4 ¾ x 44/56/52 Figurado); R (5 x 54 Robusto); D (5 ¼ x 32/54/32 Diadema); E (6 x 54 Epicure); P (5 ½ x 55 Perfecto); C (7 x 54 Churchill); B (6 x 54 Belicoso); V (6 ¾ x 32/56/32 Figurado) and the widely celebrated X (7 x 54 Torpedo).

La Tradicion Perdomo Reserve® is carefully packaged in stylish, space-saving 8-9-8 Spanish cedar boxes. Each new edition of the Perdomo Reserve collection is defined by boxes finished in either a classically elegant pearl white (White Label) or a bold, brilliant ruby red (Red Label). The previously issued Perdomo Reserve Silver Label box features an eye-catching gun metal silver finish.

Cigar production is limited to only the most experienced rollers - all grade seven tabaqueros that work in specially-assigned quarters at the Tabacalera Perdomo factory in Esteli. Nick Perdomo, Sr. has personally selected and hand-picked each superb and flavorful wrapper leaf that tenderly graces the cigars flawlessly round exterior. Voted as Cigar of the Year by both the Robb Report and the European Cigar Cult Journal, this exquisite premium cigar brand retails between $5.75 and $8.40.
